The Golden Rule

Rarely in life do you get to see the Golden Rule starkly played out over the course of a mere couple of days.

Like many in the blogosphere, I post both from a work computer and home computer. On Monday, I learned I had been banned from posting at the website Rightwingsparkle. Oddly, the ban was placed on my work computer but not the one in my home. The banning was made without explanation and I can only assume it was for being too liberal.

Today I learned that Sparkle herself was banned from the Unpaid Punditry Corps website for, according to Sparkle, callling Bill Moyers a liar (ironically "liar" is a term Sparkle has stated she will not tolerate in reference to herself despite her repeated misstatements).

While her righty cohorts whine about liberals being afraid of conservative arguments, they hypocriytically ignore Sparkle's record of repeated bannings of liberals at her own site.

Poetic justice, I suppose.

  • Ha! Way to go Macswain. I was also banned from RWS for being too liberal (and she even lied about the reasons she banned me). You should take the banning as a badge of honor.

I'm glad she's got a taste of her own medicine. Besides, who reads her junk anymore? Her comments section has turned into a barren wastelands of freeper madness.

  • Two points:

    1) Sparkle actually HAS readers.

    2) People get banned on Sparkle's website for verbally abusive behavior, not because they are liberal or any other ideological reason. To the best of my knowledge, ONE person has been banned, so one of you is probably lying.

We are a cohort? Oh boy! Wait til I tell everyone!

  • Maybe this is a record:
I was banned at Rightwingsparkle after only ONE post. I'd been lurking for a while, and finally stepped out of the shadows with this regarding her Victor Davis Hanson post:

"Applause for Cernig for calling RWS on her BS. No doubt she'll answer Cernig by claiming she's just re-broadcasting what Victor Davis Hanson said. But that of course doesn't answer Cernig's assertions about RWS's bogus left-bashing.

She can't even get the name of the guy she's quoting correct, calling him just Victor Davis, and referring to him as "Davis". I wonder if she was even awake when she conjured this post.

To stay on topic, Hanson doesn't bother to question the veracity of the source for his "paper", "one Abu Ibrahim" - a "Syrian smuggler of jihadists to Iraq." That "source" could just as easily have been pulled out of someone's butt. And isn't the Washington Post supposedly one of those questionable liberal MSM sources? Doesn't mean that everything Hanson has to say in his article is wrong, but the basis of his left-bashing is inadequately sourced, to put it mildly.

With RWS's obvious antipathy to nearly everything left, I'm at a loss why the UPC even asked her to be part of their blog group."

Do those remarks really qualify as "verbally abusive behavior"? I pointed out some errors, and asked a couple of snarky questions. Big deal. But within a couple of hours, the post was gone, and I was banned.

If you ask me, the UPC crowd probably banned her because she constantly engages in unsubstantiated left-bashing - an attitude that directly contradicts the spirit of the UPC.

  • bigdog, sparkle has insane, factually-challenged freeper readers. She used to have a few readers that tried to point out her mistakes and make constructive criticism, but they have all either been banned or been frightened away by the likes of you or the equally socially challenged Wonderduck.

I really don't see how you could be any kind of authority on how many people are banned from sparkles site, so your comments have no merit.

And groovyvic, if RWS is saying what you are thinking, then you need to go get your head examined. I thought you made a committment to not take for granted the republican talking points anymore and start independently checking the facts from verifiable sources. But obviously, your runin with Dirk the Turk didn't make enough of a lasting impression.

  • So curious. To my knowledge, the UPC has never provided any story as to the RWS being fired. So there is a story with two sides, and everyone has an opinion but has only heard one side.

    Curious.

  • So, Macswain, RWS has said that your (partial) banning was unintentional and has offered to un-ban you. You going to take her up on it?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:54 PM

  • Or have you already?

  • ww,

Good to see you again. Your welcome here of course. I always felt your banning was bogus.

    Dirk would also be welcome.

As is everybody else ... there will be no bannings here except for extreme racist stuff or if someone pulls a "Shining" (you know, writing "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" a gizzilion times in a row).

Trash talk is welcome ... of course, you will be mocked if your rap is weak. As Romey says, "Have a Take, Don't Suck!!!"

    fatman,

Certainly I will take up her offer of the un-ban. Somebody has to set you righties straight.
