UPDATE On Iraqi Reconstruction Funds Scandal

NPR covered the story tonight and told of a large payment to an elevator repair contractor. After payment was made and the elevator supposedly repaired, the elevator went into a free fall killing three people.

American conservatives need not worry, however. Tort reform in Iraq has been a resounding success. There will be no malpractice claim against the repair contractor since Iraq does not even have the semblance of a functioning judiciary.

Never ones to be satisfied, American conservatives are bemoaning that they, unlike their Iraqi counterparts, actually have have to pay a portion of the regressive taxes necessary to fund conservative "judges" to throw out jury verdicts against their corporate cronies.

  • Well, I'm glad conservatives don't want to stop wasting money. That explains why the last 20 years of retardlican administrations hasn't produced 1 balanced budget.

  • The three hapless souls in the free fall surely took solace knowing that their would be no profiting off their misery by some greedy trial lawyer.

As for the elevator repair company, Iraquis are quickly learning the American ethic that 90% of business is making the sale, 10% in doing the work.

  • I meant "there" there, not "their" there.

So there's no need to chime in, Rolly. We've actually been enjoying your absence from the blog the last couple days. You've obviously gone underground since the blistering you took in the comments to Macswain's post about the hamster/snake and the grizzly man.

  • Webhub,

Weren't you the one that used to espouse the theory that in a free-falling elevator you only needed to jump right before the hit to land safely.

Sounds like you'd be arguing comparative fault here.

This is a comment about a prior post: Tredwell.

You speculated that Rolly was the type of guy who would shot a high powered precise rifle when hunting a Grizzly Bear.

Well, for the record, I don't hunt, so I don't know where you came up with that.

But, that statement illustrates as well as anything, what a blind ass you are. What would you prefer, someone hunt bears with a peashooter? In you peabrain, you seem to think that it is better to risk wounding something with a unprecise, low-powered weapon so that it can run off and die an agonizing death or remain wounded and angry where it presented a threat to any innocent hiker that wandered near its lair. A great example of an inability to think things through. Rolly
