Condi's Mix Tape Sucks

E&P has the breakdown on Bono's request for Condi to provide her top ten music picks. Here's her picks:

1. Mozart
Piano Concerto in D minor
"I won my first piano competition at the age of 15, playing this work."

2. Cream
'Sunshine of Your Love'
"I love to work out to this song," says Rice. "Believe it or not, I loved acid rock in college - and I still do."

3. Aretha Franklin
'Respect'

4. Kool and the Gang
'Celebration'
"It's just such a great song."

5. Brahms
Piano Concerto No 2

6 Brahms
Piano Quintet in F minor

7. U2
Anything
Rice, a big fan, is happy to listen to any of their tunes.

8. Elton John
'Rocket Man'
"It brings back memories of college, friends, my first boyfriend."

9. Beethoven
Symphony No 7
"Quite simply the greatest symphony of all time," is how Rice describes Beethoven's Seventh.

10. Mussorgsky
Boris Godunov

What's worse --- the pathetic suck-up pick of Anything by U2 or the tone-deaf pick of nauseating, wedding-fave "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang? Yet, Comedy Central would be well seved if it could get a hold of Condi working out to Cream.

  • It's gotta be better than Bush's. I doubt he's even heard of Brahms or Beethoven. Plus, even though it's an obvious MOR choice, Aretha rules. But Rocket Man?

  • This is of interest to somebody? In your pathological need to trash anybody associated with this administration, you rank Condi for her choice in music. If it had been Al Sharpton's list and you found the music (according of course to your highly refined ear and sense of art) lacking, you would have said, "Hey, everybody to each their own." Go back to your pocket pussy, you hypocrite.

  • Good argument, Rolly. It goes something like this:

    - Concoct a hypothetical situation
    - Imagine what you would think Mac's reaction would be
    - State that reaction as fact
    - Label Mac a hypocrite for an imagined reaction to a hypothetical event

I guess I don't find that argument very persuasive, but as you say, "everybody to each their own."

  • Anonymous, imagine what Macswain's position would be? Hell, I will give him this, he is the most consistent person, I know. Always take one side and only one side.

Anyway, you damn near got it right for a scientific proof of a hypothesis. Of course, you didn't get it all right, but one who hides behind "anonymous"--well?

  • Did you see the look on Condi's face
at the last photoOp? She definitely
gets that she hitched her wagon to
    the wrong star. Ditto McCain.

  • although i despise condi, i get a more favorable impression of her by looking at a list that includes brahms and beethoven's 7th.

i hate to side with rolly on anything, but his logic is impeccable on this one.

as for you, anonymous, mac is one of the greatest knee-jerks ever seen. With respect to an independent thinker, I agree it would seem preposterous to concoct a hypothetical situation
    - imagine what you would think his reaction would be, then state it as fact, and conclude he's a hyprocrite.

However, long time readers of this blog can do that with ease. It's gotten to the point where we hardly even need Macswain's input to start with.

  • Mac,

If you ever need to take some time off, your loyal readers could write the column for you from your point of view, no sweat.
